Has anybody tried booking a gift package before sailing...

Just phoned P+O to book a table at the White Room on Ventura for a birthday celebration in february. Gift package comes with bottle of wine and table for 2.

 

I could have booked it, but not for any chosen date?

 

You have to book with P+O, then go to the restaurant when you get on board to choose the date and time....

 

But what if the date I want is fully booked, said I?

 

Well you then choose a different date, said P+O

 

But the missus birthday only comes on a certain date!!!!! said I

 

OH! said P+O, perhaps you had better book when you get on board then.

 

Fine, so what about this gift offer, said I?

 

Sorry you can only book it before you sail...... DUH!

 

YOu have to laff, I think....

 

Only problem with booking when we get to Barbados, is that we arrive on a saturday, when half the passengers (1500 or so) arrive the day before.

Is the gift package reasonably priced? The cost of White room was £20 pp (15 day cruise). I expect the gift is given without a booking date so the recipient can choose what suits them?

 

How far into the cruise is your wife's birthday? Is it a sea day (busy), or a formal night (not so busy)? I think you will be fine booking once onboard, as it's quite a large restaurant and open for quite a long time in the evenings. Eating a little earlier would be lovely, to eat outside on the WR terrace before it's totally dark. If you can't get the date, East was better than W Room IMO.
