Deposit loss

Hi does any-one know if we lose our deposit if we change a cruise to a different date.

Talk to your T/A, I beleive in theory yes, but, I recently booked an open cruise with Cunard and have untill October 2011 to choose which one we take. All part of the same group so you may be lucky.

It's usually a £100 admin fee to change to another date and it usually has to be a cruise of the same or higher value.

It also has to be within a year of your original cruise and you are only allowed one change.

It can also depend on 'why'. And if you have lost your deposit, it 'may' be claimable on your insurance.

 

I had a 5 week cruise and stay booked for New Zealand/Australia. Booked months in advance and when it cale to pay the balance, I was waiting for a major operation and my Doctor advised me to cancel the cruise. He wrote me a letter. The T/A said that if I booked a similar or more expensive cruise the deposit could be transferred. Longer and/or more expensive meant a suite, and there were none available on the cruise we fancied, or part of a World cruise, which we had already done.

 

Cancelled. Lost deposit. All except £42.00 refunded by the Insurance company.

 

We then booked a three week cruise on Aurora to the USA and Canada, weeeeeeeeeeelllllllllll in advance after the operation :D:D:D

 

AND were covered for that operation in the USA!!

Thanks for all your replies. Waiting to hear from T/A now. We had originally booked Azura March 2012 but due to other events taking place we would like to go on her in Nov 2011.
