Baby Beach no ship excursion - any thoughts on hiring driver?

We just returned from week in Aruba, and absolutely loved our time on Baby Beach. We rented a car and had wonderful time. But we now have friends who are stopping in Aruba on a cruise at end of January, and their ship doesn't offer any excursion for Baby Beach and they do NOT want to rent a car. I had been told taxi's are out as you could get stranded there. If they wanted to spend 3 or so hours there, do you have any suggestions on who they could arrange a trip with, or how to get picked up? They'd love to go as they need easy beach access! Thanks!

for that price, you are better off renting a car. It is easy to navigate Aruba's roads.

Not sure what the concerns are for not wanting to rent a car, but we've rented also and it's one of the easiest places to get around on your own. There are car rentals right when you walk off the ship - couldn't be easier.

You can drive in Aruba with a U.S. drivers license. International drivers licenses are also accepted.

Some people do not feel comfortable driving in a foreign country.

Aruba uses international road signs. U.S. citizens may feel uncomfortable driving with them. Either way, people have their reasons for not wanting to rent a car.

Car speedometers and road signs are in Kilometers. Speed limits in are 40 km/h or 60, unless specified otherwise. Many of Oranjestad's traffic is one-way and at intersections, where there are no road signs, traffic from your right has the right of way. Roudabouts? Good luck. From experience I have found that most people in the roundabout have the right of way. They will not yield for someone coming in from the right.

Arubans drive fast! And some do not have a lot of patience for slower drivers. Also beware of roadside herds of goats. In some of the quieter areas of the island it is also not uncommon to see wild donkeys. Neither goats or donkeys know to get out of the way of a car.

NO right on red in Aruba ANYWHERE.

We spent 10 days in Aruba on a land vacation. Our favorite island - beautiful!! We rented a car for three days. Driving is super easy in Aruba! Renting a car is the best way to go in Aruba! You will LOVE Baby Beach. Best snorkeling too.
