LazySleepr Posted January 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Let's say on embarkation day I enter the boat and forgot something important in the car. Am I allowed to leave the boat to get my stuff in the car w/o creating a big hassle? How about on disembarkation day, I leave the boat and I realized I forgot my laptop, can I re-enter the boat to get it back?
firefly333 Posted January 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2011 I had a friend who forgot her diabetic insulin in the cooler in my car. I had to get off the ship after I had boarded, amid lots of warnings to be back by so and so time. I walked to the parking lot, got it, returned, and got back and swiped my card back in. Debarkation is a zoo, so you better check and double check you didnt forget anything in your cabin. Remember when you are disembarking, you also have to go thru customs .. they wouldnt just let you walk back on once you have gone thru customs that easily. Someone else maybe could be sent to your cabin if you forgot your laptop .. but by then the cabin steward probably has already been to your cabin... and the door will be standing open and anyone could enter. Colorado Kat Posted January 3, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2011 I'm pretty sure they won't want you going back at embarkation. But if it's important, like leaving stuff in your safe, they will have a staff member go and get it. At embarkation, when you sign out, they are saying "adios" to your key card access. beckyk329 Posted January 3, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2011 My husband once left his sun glasses in the car at Miami... I left him with all our carry-ons and went to fetch them. Every person I passed said just keep your id and s/s handy and hurry back by 3:00, (it was like 11:30!) I explained to everyone I passed exiting what happened and I was just running to the car that I could see in the parking lot.. (if you've parked at p.o.m. you know what I mean). They were all super nice, even escorted me to the front of line to go through security again, (I had no luggage and wasn't checking in, just had to make sure I didn't grab any bombs or anything;)) .... Bottom line is they will let you, and be nice about it, but I would highly recommend double and triple checking so you don't have too!!
uppitycats Posted January 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Once you've signed in on the first day, you can come and go as you please. Just find out exactly when you need to be back..and make sure you're back, or they'll leave without you! On the last day...it's pretty hectic. You'd best do a careful check..and re-check..of your cabin before you leave. It would be really a challenge to get back on board, or find someone "in charge" who would do that for you. ferfoodle Posted January 3, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 3, 2011 On my last cruise on RCL at disembarkment, one in our group forgot to empty his safe and we were already at customs. He and his wife stepped out of line and she waited while he went back as far as they would allow him. The RCL staff did recover his items and returned them to him. He caught up with his wife, got in line and still made the transfer to the airport.
fleckle Posted January 3, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Let's say on embarkation day I enter the boat and forgot something important in the car. Am I allowed to leave the boat to get my stuff in the car w/o creating a big hassle? Certainly. No hassle at all. Once you have received your little card, it is just like getting off and on the ship at any other port. You just insert your card into the machine and ding it each time you get off or on. At embarkation ports we often check in, board the ship, drop off our carry-on bags, and then head back out into town to pick up last minute items at nearby stores. Much easier to go shopping at the port unencumbered with luggage. How about on disembarkation day, I leave the boat and I realized I forgot my laptop, can I re-enter the boat to get it back? That is an entirely different situation because once you ding that card out for the final time, you can't use it to board the ship again. So you need to tell the security people that you left something on the ship and they will arrange to have someone else retrieve for you.
misguidedangel Posted January 3, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Your best bet is to have a checklist of what to remember to take out of the car with you before heading to the terminal. Look at and it and if you can safely say you have everything, no worries... I know, lists, lists, lists....they do work...Some people like to wing it and look/think to see if they got everything, but me I am a list person..... Debarkation--before you leave the cabin look in all the drawers, closet, safe, and bathroom to make sure you have everything so you know you got it all... Remember, have your passport or ID on you and not in your suitcase..*BG*
