Randus62 Posted January 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2011 We are crusing on the Sky out of the Port of Miami this month. We wanted to rent a car at the end of the cruise. Does anyone know of a car rental agency that will pick you up at the port? Hertz will drop you off at the port, but don't do pick ups.
JohninDC Posted January 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2011 Alamo reportedly has a shuttle that will transport you back to their facility near MIA. Good luck! :)
sjcruiser Posted January 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2011 Ditto for the Alamo pick up. If you search the Florida Departures, you'll find some cruisers who recently used the service.

DanJ Posted January 5, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2011 Interestingly, I had a rental booked for Alamo out of PBI, with a drop off at FLL prior to our cruise. I`m not sure why, but early this morning, I went to their site and checked prices. Much to my surprise, when I clicked on minivan, it said base rate was $28 and change. My confirmed reservation for mini-van was $77 plus taxes and fees. So I made a second reservation, and double and triple checked my info to make sure I wasn`t missing something. Total price came up as $36 instead of the $98 or so the other reservation was. Not sure why, but the minivans and cars are all cheap, while the various SUV and crossovers are up. Maybe it`s just a PBI thing, I don`t know, but anyone looking at or booked with Alamo should have a check of their prices right now.
miamiyogi Posted January 5, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 5, 2011 I can understand the need to save money, but for my dollar, I would just taxi to the Hertz or Avis rental desks in downtown. Its $10 +/- by cab, and usually you get a better rate than at the airport site. It seems like a waste to me to get all the way to airport to get a car IMHO.
