Brilliance of the Seas

Hi Everyone

We are totally new to cruising and would appreciate a bit of advice. Just booked rooms 8142 and 8144 (interconnecting balcony rooms) on the Brilliance for a Jan 2012 trip out of Dubai. Has anyone got any experience on this ship and are these rooms reasonable ok in terms of location, noise level, size, etc?

There will be 3 adults (mom, dad, grandma) and 2 kids (4 and a 15 year old girls). Would 2 adults and the little one be ok in one room or better to put the 2 kids with one adult (maybe grandma) together?

Is it true that there are RCI does not provide standard toiletries in the rooms (ie. soap, shampoo, conditioner)?

Thanks a lot in advance

Mayerka

Your cabins are in a decent location...a bit "aft", but not too bad...no cabins really have "noise issues" so that will be fine.

I would put the kids with grandma...that would give you some privacy! But, either way, the rooms open directly to each other...you'll be closer to the kids than you probably are at home!

The bathroom will have bar soap and some liquid dispenser stuff...bring your own toiletries.

Bear in mind that these cabins won't be huge...not even like a hotel room as cabins aren't! You will need to walk to the central stairs/elevators everytime you come and go....the staircase shown near your cabins is "crew only".

Hi CB

Thank you heaps for the response. Does aft location of the cabins affect the view at all? I get seasick really easily would this location be an issue as opposed to a middle of the ship location?

Thanks again.

You will have a wonderful cruise.

The Brilliance is quite a large vessel and your cabin location will mitigate motion. The ship has stabilizers which balance motion. You will feel movement in normal seas but it is totally different than being tossed in a dingy off the Australian coast.

I would also recommend the children bed down with grandmother. You have the advantage of having connecting cabins which facilitates movement between the cabins. Grandmother can visit in your cabin while your four year old is napping. This should work well for your family.

Your cabin steward will make sure that ample soap, shampoo, lotion and a few amenities are always stocked in your bath.

CBatSea is correct. The majority of ship's cabins are quite small but there will be plenty of storage for all of your clothing etc. Your suitcases will fit under your beds which will free up floor space.
