Applying Disney giftcards as OBC

We are travelling aboard The Dream in May and have several Disney giftcards. My question is, can we have those cards applied as a shipboard credit before boarding? I know I can easily bring them with us but was just curious.

You can not apply them at check-in but can go to guest services immediately upon boarding and have them added to your account then. You still have to use another form of payment upon check-in.

So if we add them could we use them towards tips/gratuities at the end of the cruise?

yes, you just have to add them to your account first, as everything is charged to your account even tips/gratuities.

Does Disney still make/sell the Disney Dollars? I know the stores in our area now only carry the gift cards. I have also checked online and do not see the disney dollars offered.

I asked at the Disney store and they said they no longer carry the Disney Dollars, I wanted to get them for stocking stuffers, they just carry giftcards. The cashier didnt give me a reason...

Gift Cards are individually coded so they can be replaced if lost or stolen as long as you have the receipt and they haven't been used. (Keep them in a seperate place) Also it's a good way of managing internal loss control.
