Passport

No, passport won't make it any easier--just have your government issued ID, i.e., driver's license to be checked. We used our passports last year for our entire Alaska cruise (because of going through Canada) and it was same amount of time as for regular ID.

I know I don't NEED my passport going to Hawaii from the mainland, but do you think it will help with regards to airport security? I'd rather keep it safely tucked away at home unless anyone can tell me a reason I might want it.

Thanks!

If you're going on a cruise just know that getting back on the ship in Honolulu in particular they were the strictest I've ever seen about photo I.D.! We were on the Golden Princess and I had thought we'd have it easy since we started in the US and had already gone through the ship's immigration but they checked every single person and if you had forgotten the ID and only had your ship's cruise card you were pulled to the side.

My advice is take the passport!
