Haiphong for a day

We will dock in Haiphong for a day this April on the Silver Shadow. Although we would like to visit Hanoi, we aren't keen on the 5 hour round trip drive. We would love to hear from other Cruise Critic fans what other options they have explored.

As an aside, we have enjoyed the advice and comments of these boards over the years and value the marvelous experiences of others; thank you in advance.

The Shadow will be going to Haiphong from 7 AM to 11 PM on our upcoming sailing. Did you go to Hanoi after all? If so, was it worth the long trip over there/back to Haiphong? Thanks Erin
