Starboard or Port

I always for get which is which. Facing the front of the ship, which one is left? Thanks.

Port = Left

 

Starboard = Right

Just remember: that after a cruise -

 

There is never any Port wine Left! (because it's all been drunk)

 

It's also useful for sailors to help them remember that the port running light is red, the starboard running light is green. I like drinking red Port.

Port has four letters, so does left.:)

There was a story some years ago about a captain, who, each time that he went to the bridge, he would unlock his private draw, glance at it, and then re lock it.

One fateful day he neglected to re lock the draw, so the next officer of the watch peeked inside. Taped to the bottom was a piece of paper reading 'Port Left, Starboard Right'.
