Gay Cruiser Posted January 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2011 My godson is getting his Masters in Organic Chemisty in May. As a gift we wanted to do a cruise out of San Diego, well looking first at "find a bargin" and then even checking the offical port schedules we find NO ships sailing from there from May through the summer. What's up with that?
Onearmbandit Posted January 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2011 The only Carnival ship in San Diego is the Spirit and she sails to hawaii and alaska during the summer months.....
spencercoop Posted January 19, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2011 This will be the second year of there being no ships sailing out of San Diego during the summer. The Elation was the only ship sailing year round out of San Diego, but carnival cut that program during April of last year. So there are no cruise lines that leave out of San Diego during the summer. Gay Cruiser Posted January 19, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I also noticed no Holland America ships either, I know some go to Alaska. So much for the new port being used it just opened on Dec. 18th. Well, guess it means a drive to Las Angeles, or Long Beach.

Your only option during the summer is Long Beach. Carnival is the only cruise line doing cruises out of LA/Long Beach during summers now. So you can do a 7 day cruise on the Splendor, or a 3 or 4 day cruise on the Paradise
firefly333 Posted January 19, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I saw the stock looked like it was down today and the market was up a tiny tad, and saw this news. http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN1421051320110115?feedType=RSS&feedName=cyclicalConsumerGoodsSector&rpc=43 Cruise lines to cut back Mexico trips amid violence
