Helicopter or float plane in Juneau

Hi Everyone,

 

We are contemplating about either doing a helicopter or floatplane ride in Juneau. I know the helicopter ride is more expensive but don't know if I would be missing anything different if I take the float plane instead.

 

Does anyone know if the views of the glaciers are better on a helicopter or are they similar on the floatplane? Have never been to Juneau.

 

Any input or info would be greatly appreciated.

We have done both and I personally like the helicopter ride but you we had great views with both tours. So I wold say it depends on your budget.

Thank you Ruecatt for your input and photos. I think we will do the floatplane since our budget is limited.

Well a helicopter is far superior for the glacier landing and access on to a glacier.

 

Float planes can also have very scenic routes, which flying out of Juneau will have.

We did the Taku Lodge flightseeing trip and loved it. The views were breath-taking. We landed across from a glacier and had lunch in an old lodge. A bear visited the site while we were there and we were within 30 or 40 feet of it.
