Suggestions on how to make the most of only 5 hours in Nassau???

We are going to be in Nassau for only about 5 hours. Any suggestions on what to do in that amount of time? Are there any markets/souviener shops close? Close beach? Suggestions on how to make the most of our 5 hours....

Yes... As you exit the dock area and leave the terminal building you can go to the right to the large white tent which is the temporary "Straw Market" (the old one burned down). They have local handicrafts & inexpensive souveniers there as well as fake designer handbags and things like that. One block inland from that is Bay Street, which is Nassau's main shopping street.

 

Atlantis Resort & Casino on Paradise Island (http://www.atlantis.com/) is also a fun place to explore. The aquarium is quite spectacular!

we are going to cab over to paradise island and walk around. you can go to the beach if you get an early start. or walk around the straw market.

There's also a water taxi that goes to Atlantis from the docks if you want something a little more scenic than a car taxi.

I called Atlantis and they no longer sell day passes to use their facilities.

Atlantis doesn't sell passes to their pool, waterslide or beach areas, but they DO sell "tours" of the aquarium and "dig". That is what I was referring to, you never could use the rest of their facilities unless you were a hotel guest. Anyone can go to the Casino, and shops of course.
