yellow fever shot and other shots!!!

3 years ago my family went to Panama for a weeks vacation with out me. Just before they left they were required to get the Yellow fever shot so they could enter the country. I am planning a cruise which Panama, Cozmel and Costa Rica are the ports. Are any shots required for these locations? If so I have to make arrangements to get them and then tell my friend from Australia that she will need them too.

I thought this was going to be some sort of drink.

 

I've never gotten any vaccines or immunizations for any cruise including a Panama Canal transit.

 

The CDC doesn't seem to think you need one.

I'm getting a negative on anything other that routine stuff, which you should probably already have. YYMV.

 

Vaccines are not 100% effective and are not without risk, so I don't just get them for the heck of it.

Since you are in Canada, I suggest you check with Canadian Health authorities. US citizens who live within the US do not need immunizations to visit those places, but Canadian rules may be different.

We went on the panama canal trip 2 yrs ago. We did get the shots, I think it was recomended, I'm not sure if it was manditory. It was mostly for Costa Rica. Once you get the shots it is good for basicly the rest of your life. I would check with the cruise line & with the health unit. I'm glad that we got the hepititis a & b shots especially, it is good for travel in Mexico too. However we were not checked to see if we had our shots anywhere. Look into it & then you can make a decision.:)
