Regarding the visa:

If you have a US passport, then the cost of a single-entry visa, a two-entry visa, a six month multiple entry visa and a 12 month multiple entry visa are the same.

When we needed a visa for a cruise last year, we just applied for the 12 month multiple entry visa. That took care of the Princess cruise and also a Chinese river boat cruise we took within the one year period.

We live near a city with a Chinese consulate, so we just dropped off our applications and passports there and returned after five business days to pick them up and pay. If you do not live in or near such a city, then you will have to use a visa service.

The Chinese visa must be first used within 90 days of issuance, so do not apply too soon.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding, your first cruise, and welcome to Cruise Critic.

Hi Caribill, we are from the UK. We have now had the visa query clarified by Princess, which further supports my fellow CC'ers have given me.

We also received our electronic boarding passes & baggage tags today :-) Everything's starting to feel more real now!

Happy Cruising!

Thanx IECalCruiser,

Another excellent tip duly noted. We are taking a couple of those International power adapters with us and I guess they're quite bulky. So an extension lead would be perfect.
