deniuh Posted February 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2011 For those of you who have experienced the character dining on the Allure, is there a charge? is it only offered for breakfast? did you enjoy it? what characters are there? There are three character breakfasts on Allure. There is no charge. Make sure when you first board the ship, you call that dining line - can't remember the correct name but it will be in your compass. You can make a reservation for all 3 breakfasts. They occur on the 3 days at sea. The first one is Shrek and Fiona, second one is Alex, King Julian and Gloria, third one is more Madagascar characters with the penguins etc. You have to report at the dining room at 7:30-7:45 and they seat the reservations first. Our DD is 3 and she had a blast. The staff brings the characters to each table and you get to take pictures with them free of charge. You can meet the characters at designated times throughout the week to take portraits which you will have to purchase if you want them. There were adults lining up for the breakfasts. It was fun seeing them so life size and watching the kids eyes light up. The menus are also character themed and geared towards the kids. RCCL is really trying to give Disney competition in this area - I think they are succeeding.
MCazer Posted February 7, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2011 Do the characters sign autographs?
onefishtwofish Posted February 9, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2011 We were wondering how they do the character meals! Were they full? Was getting a time/day an issue at all?
momtoeja Posted February 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Can you make the reservations in advance? Before you get on the ship?
keropikero Posted February 10, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Yes you can. I just did for my May cruise. It's under specialty restaurants. Question: - 2 of the 3 days are port days (at least for the E. route). Both of which are very short port hours already, would I rather head down and visit the ports then have a 2-hr breakfast? We are first timers. 2nd Q: I read somewhere there's 9:00 seating? There was only 8am for reservation.
keropikero Posted February 21, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 21, 2011 An update: all specialty restaurants and shows are available for booking for my May cruise.
sharktums Posted February 21, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 21, 2011 Just got off the Allure yesterday, did the Dreamworks Breakfast Saturday morning. Made reservations online ahead of time, showed up at 8am and were seated. Breakfast was really good and we had Gloria, Alex, and the Penguins as our characters. They didn't sign autographs but instead had a stamp their 'handler' would use.
mrsdiznee Posted February 22, 2011 #9 Share Posted February 22, 2011 Were there very many Adult without kids?
brmoqueen Posted February 22, 2011 #10 Share Posted February 22, 2011 I see no reason why there wouldn't be adults without kids! Isn't cruising all about 'having fun"?!!!!!!! It's not just for kids!!
sharktums Posted February 22, 2011 #11 Share Posted February 22, 2011 ^^I could see about 20 tables from where we were sitting and two tables were adults only. Seemed like they were having fun and it's a different breakfast menu so I say why not!? =)
Chicky2181 Posted February 22, 2011 #12 Share Posted February 22, 2011 does each party get their own table or are you sat with others?
sharktums Posted February 23, 2011 #13 Share Posted February 23, 2011 ^From what I saw each party got their own table. I'm sure this varies based on how many people are signed up though.
dorito6778 Posted February 23, 2011 #14 Share Posted February 23, 2011 Just off the Allure this weekend. We did 2 of the 3 breakfasts. They are ONLY at 8am, no matter what you read on these boards. Seems as though the characters are never the same from breakfast to breakfast. Our schedule went like this: 1st breakfast: Madagascar (Lion, squirrel, king julian) 2nd: shrek, fiona, puss 3rd (didnt attend): Madagascar (penguins, lion, hippo) there was no charge. no autographs either (their costumes totally restrict their hands..fiona's "hand" was as big as DDs head!)
