LaShelle2 Posted February 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Where are the best prices? I heard it is cheaper on the ship. Is this true? Posted on bahamas board and did not get any response. Thanks
KellyJean Posted February 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2011 For Nassau, just as cheap if not cheaper on the ship.
milwaukee mike Posted February 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2011 I purchased Jim Beam on the ship, it was a $2 more than in the shops on shore. I figured it wasn't worth the hassle of carring it around and checking it with the ship for 2 bucks.
bajathree Posted February 9, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Barcardi Rum may be a bit cheaper on Nassau.
didicruiser Posted February 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Before you go ashore, check the prices on the ship. The ship will match the price from a port store if you written proof. IMHO, it's better to get it ashore if it's not a problem carrying the bottles although many stores will deliver to the ship. Just remember to leave room in your luggage for the bottles and not go over the airline's luggage weight limit:eek:
PH8 Posted February 9, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 9, 2011 No outstanding liquor deals in Nassau......
Sunkissed Mommy Posted February 9, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 9, 2011 I've always found better prices in Nassau than on the ship. St Maarten is even cheaper though!
griffy116 Posted February 9, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 9, 2011 While shopping in Grand Cayman, I got a killer deal on Crown Royal at a shop. It was apparently a mistake, but since I'm not big on booze, I didn't realize it at the time. When I saw this big difference in the ship's shop, I showed the clerk my receipt, thinking I would be told, "sorry, but no." The clerk was stunned at the price (wish I could remember what it was now) and totally sold me another bottle at the same price, which made a very nice gift upon my return. Check out the price onboard and if you can beat it in port, SAVE THE RECEIPT and you can purchase it at the same price onboard. :D
