Price drops & Penalty Periods??

okay.. new to this.. please advise.... I have paid for my Carnival cruise in full.. we sail in about 33 days.. there has been a significant price drop, but when I called to see if I could capitalize on it they said we were now in a penalty period and could not offer an OBC, just a room upgrade.. ( we are traveling with two young kids and have adjoining rooms.. no upgraded adjoining rooms available for upgrade) .. any advice... or just forget about it and enjoy the cruise?

Yes, apparently there are no adjoining rooms available for upgrade, so what else can you do?
