NCL says dress pants collar shirt, etc....i see alot of people saying they wore shorts and stuff to eat. is this true? not really wanting to dress up. looking to kick back and relax. jeans and heels if anything. hubby with jeans and polo shirt.

The Spirit is pretty casual, yes, jeans and a nice blouse or polo for hubby should be just fine most of the time. As for shorts in the dining rooms, please don't even get me started!!!!!

we dont plan on trying to go to dinner in shorts. i seen some other people complaining about the way some people were dressed at dinner, cut off jeans and muscle shirts. i plan to dress nice but not a dress and not a suit for hubby.

the week i plan to be in swin suit and cover ups except for dinner. and my cover ups could even pass for dresses.

We sailed on the spirit last year and we are big fans of traditional dining but I will tell you, on that trip we really enjoyed the Free Style dining.

We didn't take one fancy piece of clothes to wear. We went to relax. We went to the dining rooms in a simple shirt (not tee shirt) and long pants. My husband only too polo type shirts and long pants.

I'm not a fan of shorts in the dining room either. I think it is basic respect for others. If I don't feel like changing clothes for dinner, there are lots of other places on the ship to get food.

We just returned from the Spirit and mostly we wore shorts to dinner. We ate in the buffet, the Garden Dining Room, the Blue Lagoon and the Asian Fusion restaurant. You can't wear shorts in the Windows dining room or Le Bistro or Cagney's. We didn't wear short shorts, but Bermuda type shorts with very nice tops and nice sandals.

We loved the Spirit and had a wonderful trip with wonderful weather! I can't say enough about the crew...they were just the best.

i was wondering about the weather too. i want to snorkel so bad and get in that blue water. im here in louisiana. 3 days ago it was 30 degrees. today it's in the 70's.

when did you say you are going? I know next week the weather looks awesome and from now until late fall snorkeling should be a great way to spend time.

wow, there are so many possibilities: when are you leaving and did you know Mardi Gras starts soon. In fact the first parade is this weekend.

We will be making only our second trip to the city, thus I do not have much experience. Depending though on what you like to eat, it seems one of the favorite (touristy though) places to eat is Acme.

We stayed the first time in a botique type hotel just off the French Quarters. It was not the best experience, but at least it gave us something to talk about. This time we have decided to stay at a regular chain hotel. It may not be artsy and trendy but we know what we are getting.

I would suggest you go to the Ports a call section on CC for more ideas.

im about 30 minutes outside of new orleans. when we do go, it's to go to the casino or to bourbon street. during mardi gras.....good luck. you wont get to really see much of new orleans excpet for people.

pretty much any restaurant you come across will be good. chops bistro, acme oyster house. if you travel on veterans blvd away from new orleans you will find several good restaurants.
