Sail away parties

Hi i have heard that sail away parties on Celebrity ships are a pretty low key affair, is this correct? Im sailing on the Eclipse soon and would like to know what to expect. I have only ever sailed on The Emerald Princess and although they didnt have sail away parties as such they always had a caribbean band playing just above the pool deck so was an ideal time to enjoy a cocktail and soak up the atmosphere when leaving the port.

Celebrity always has a sail-away party on the pool deck. Some are better than others. For us, best one in 30 cruises was sailing out of Venice on the Millennium, drinking Bellinis, and listening to the music of Andrea Bocelli. Sailing pass the Grand Canal with gondolas everywhere was priceless.

We were on the Summit and had late seating. Unfortunately sailaway on the first night was the same time as dinner and we missed it.

The other nights when we left port we were normally up on the pool deck. Sometimes the band would play for a few minutes other times not.

You don't say when you are sailing on the Eclipse, so it is not possible to give you the link to the roll call for your sailing. If you go to the roll call section and click on Eclipse and then on the sailing date, you should be able to find a roll call. The CC people usually have a sailaway party and particulars will be given on the roll call.

A lot depends on where and when you are sailing. During the summer months and holidays when more families are onboard, things can be livelier. If it's Jan. and you're leaving Florida, weather conditions often are not conducive for hanging out on deck. Many variables. There are usually "sail aways" from other ports of call too. Not just when leaving the home port.
