Let's travel Posted February 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 15, 2011 We are going to do a cruise to Alaska in August 2011. As this is our first cruise ever, we are so uncertain of which cruise to choose. We have a 2 and a 4 year old daughter, so they need a kids programme on board for them. DH and I want some time to ourselves and we love golf, fitness centre, day spa and pool areas for that. I believe it is better to take a mini suite when you have young kids as they have a bath tub as opposed to a shower only in the staterooms. Is this a good idea? Also need to know if you can recommend these cruise liners? We are thinking of the NCL - Pearl, or the Carnival - Spirit or the Princess - Golden Princess. Any advice would really help us make our final decision. So far, the Pearl is the best priced of the 3 ships when comparing them for a mini suite. Thanks so much Nessa
SadieN Posted February 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2011 I'm gonna throw Holland America into your mix. Almost all of their cabins have bathtubs. Much younger crowd than the average HAL cruise. They were one of the first into Alaska. You can access the bow when in at the Glaciers.
lmg1230 Posted February 15, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 15, 2011 We sailed on Princess to Alaska when our daughters were 10 and 4. We had a minisuite which worked great for us and both girls loved the kids club. Your two year old, however, will be too young for the kids club on Princess so if that's really important to you then you may want to concentrate your search on the lines that have nurseries.
