Rental Car in Moorea

We're planning on renting a car one of the days in Moorea. Based on many of your reviews here, I emailed Albert transport for a quote but it's been over 2 wks and have not heard from them at all. Is this typical?

 

Sandrine from AVIS was very quick to reply but requesting I prepay at the time of the reservation. I'm not used to having to prepay for a rental car but then again, I've never rented a car in a foreign country either.

 

I would love to hear about your experiences and/or advice:)

We waited till we got off the ship and went to the kiosk just off the landing area. They had plenty of compact cars to rent.No big deal:)

In 2009 we corresponded with Sandrine after reading about many people (Tripadvisor.com) who had had good experiences using her. If you're not sure you want to rent on that day, then don't pre-pay and take your chances that cars will be available.

 

She told us that her pre-paid booking is at a discount of more than 20%.

I forgot to add that our Moorea car rental went without a hitch thanks to Sandrine.

 

The car was waiting at the dock when the PG transport arrived. The AVIS rep had all our paperwork - we signed and were off exploring the island in just a short time. There is a gas station a short distance away which proved useful when returning the car to the dock.

Thanks for the car rental recommendation. How refreshing to have a personal contact to deal with instead of just a website. Here's hoping Sandrine was able to turn up a similar contact on Bora Bora.

They rent 2 - 4 - 8 hours, and have daily rates as well.
