tesmar2000 Posted April 17, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Am sailing on Conquest late August and am wondering what hotels near the French Quarter would be good choice for us - Family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters. Have stayed at the Hilton by the river during a convention but am thinking there may be something with alittle more atmosphere (old world, courtyard, pool). Victory 05/03 No defeat. Cinderellie Posted April 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Hi, Tesmar. Would you be going on the 8/29 sailing? We are! It's our first Carnival cruise, and I also have 2 kids -- 14 year old boy and 10 year old girl. We have stayed at the Hilton Riverside 2 years ago for a convention and loved it. I was also anxious to see what you heard from this group about other hotel options that were reasonable... some of the more "atmosphere" hotels seem very pricey. Are you planning to try Priceline or another bidding website to secure your reservations? Good luck with your cruise planning! Where are you from? tesmar2000 Posted April 18, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Cinderellie-Hilton was nice and may stay there after all. Have cruised Carnival before on the Victory and loved it (it is comparable to the Conquest on set up). Have 2 daughters (one 15 and one 12. Noted you had not cruised Carnival before? It is fun and very relaxed--loved it more than Princess. Cabins are Carnival are bigger too. No defeat. lv2cruz80 Posted April 18, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2004 We just sailed on the Grandeur of the Seas in February and stayed at the Hotel Monaco. We really liked it. It's a boutique style hotel so you definitely know what city you are in as opposed to a generic hilton, marriott, etc. It is in the central business area, about 2 blocks from the french quarter. We liked that because the quarter can get noisy so we were close enough but yet able to retreat. Our travel agent had recommended this hotel and then others confirmed that they knew and liked it also. jwarhank Posted April 20, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2004 The Place d' Armes is a great little hotel about 3 blocks from F.Q. It's about 2 blocks from Pat O'Brien's, 1 block to the square. Great hotel with Courtyard, pool, comp. continental breakfast, and close to a lot of eating and shopping. Highly recommend this location.
