Hotel Shuttle vs Taxi to Port

We are considering staying at the HI Express Ft Lauderdale Conv Center, which offers shuttle service to the port for $8/pp. I believe the hotel is @ 1 mile from the port. We are a family of 5. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to get a taxi?

5 + luggage will require a minivan cab, but yes it will be lots cheaper. Good luck! :)

Cheaper but the shuttles can be pretty zoo like. I have seen them over book and get semi-ugly.

I wouldn't pay $40 to get the family to the port that close. If you have issues getting a mini-van cab to come, (you may have to call pretty early and see if they will send one at a specific time), then I might be inclined to take the luggage on the hotel shuttle with me, and send the rest of the family in a cab.

Yes, much cheaper to get a cab. For 5 people you'll need a van but still less money than the shuttle. Plus you can go whenever you want and don't have to wait for the shuttle and get loaded on like a herd of cattle.
