sarar Posted February 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2011 This is our first cruise where we will be given the onboard credit, so I have a question. How do they give you the onboard credit, do they give it to you before the cruise or do they simply minus it from your bull at the end of your stay with them? Thanks for any help. mrspjotter Posted February 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2011 When you view your onboard account there is a minus figure on each person's account for the obc they have - ours all got lumped together in the end and just taken off the whole bill. Our son had £100 and it was very difficult for him to spend it so what he had left over was taken off of our balance.
Invincible Posted February 23, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2011 We were also unsure how it worked initially, when you check in they take a credit card or debit card details to charge all your on board purchases against so onboard is totally cash free, when you get your final account which they will charge to that card your obc will be taken off your final bill. Just be sure to use both ship cards as the obc is usually per person and if you spend eveyrything on one card you will lose half your obc.
Merlin7 Posted February 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2011 A few days before the end of your cruise visit reception and ask for the two accounts to be amalgamated, if you have registered two credit cards at embarkation. If you have just registered one then I think that this will happen anyway and both OBC's will be taken into account on the final bill, with nobody losing out. It has for us. In this respect, it is always a good idea to ask for an interim acount, at some point, to see who has the most credit left and to adjust your card signings accordingly. Also makes it easier on the last morning to just check the last few entries rather than the whole thing!!
BrianI Posted February 23, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2011 If you are on Azura or Ventura, you can view your accounts on your in cabin TV. You start off with a minus figure, which is your OBC. Make sure you spend it as you cant take it as cash at the end. Brian
mrspjotter Posted February 23, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2011 We had 2 cabins on one credit card so 6 people in total and 4 of them had £100 obc each, we only registered 1 credit card and all the obc was put together and we didn't loose any that we didn't spend without going to reception to ask for it. C at Sea Posted February 24, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2011 Even though we've used 1 card, its usually been split between us. We tend to book our trips before we get on board and these usually take up the obc because they are our first spend. Note - items bought using obc do not also get portunas discount taken off too!
