What to do in port..St John, New Brunswick

We will be visiting St John, New Brunswick in July/August with a 2 year old. I am not sure if I want to book any excursions with him. Is there much to do/see if we just walked around and pushed him in the stroller?

I tried looking at the visitor center website and saw that there is a zoo and an indoor play place, but not sure where they are in relation to the ship.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

We were there two years ago and did a tour of the city and surrounding area. The tour we took had lots of getting in and out of cars and your little one would probably be bored.

Suggest you go to the port of call pages and see what other people have said.

Over on the Canada board under "ports of call," CC member Acey has posted a rather detailed list of things to do in Saint John. Our youngest son was four the first time we sailed this itinerary, and we did the one-hour "Historical Saint John by Horse-Drawn Trolley" tour - it's a short tour, and if your 2 year old likes horses they may enjoy riding the horse-drawn trolley. Aside from that, we just walked around. (With a stroller, do be aware that some of the streets are rather hilly and can provide you with a fair amount of exercise.;)) I know that due to construction the entire Harbour Passage isn't open, but the portion that is available is a nice walk around the waterfront.

There are a number of local restaurants within walking distance of the ship that have family-friendly menus - of course, if you'd prefer, you're always welcome to return to the ship for meals.
