JEDIKNIGHT Posted February 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2011 Recent NCL cruisers...how was your casino experience? Were casino dealers and managers friendly? Is smoking still allowed all thru casino? For Texas Hold 'Em poker ...do they play with dealers, or are they using the automated computer tables now? Thank you. zetachi Posted February 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2011 Just got off the Jewel and the casino staff were helpful and friendly. Mostly played craps and some blackjack though I wish I hadn't :) Maybe it was because it was the Nick all access cruise but the casino was mostly empty most nights. At one point one night I was playing craps by myself (not much fun) though on another night there was a mostly full table and I had better luck. BTW smoking is allowed in the casino. I cruise a while ago (6 months ago) on the Sky. For Hold'Em there was a casino dealer. You play with other passengers. The dealer does not play. Casino rakes in 10% of pot I think. I remember there was a drunk Canadian with a SLR camera making all sorts of trouble for everybody else. The manager came by and got everyone at the table a free beer to soothe the upset moods. NYcruzzer Posted February 28, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2011 I was on the 2/13 sailing on the Jewel. They had two Hold-em tables. Some nights both were in use. Most nights one table was open. Their live game was 1/2 no limit with a yummy 10% rake. The players and dealers were very friendly. One night the casino manager bought everyone at the table a round of drinks. There was also tournies run on the sea days.
NMLady Posted February 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2011 On the Sun there is a separate area of the casino that is a 'room' just for Texas Hold Em poker. Real dealer. Besides regular games there were several tournaments. In the casino itself there was a table of Ultimate Texas Hold Em which is played slightly differently from Texas Hold Em. Again, a real deaer. The Sun has only real dealers, no dealing machines. We thought that the dealers were so outstandingly friendly and helpful that I filled out STYLES cards for several of the dealers. Smoking was definitely permitted but I didn't find the casino too smoky for me. Mary Kay in NM
