Hotels near San Francisco Port

I am looking for a hotel near the port for our August cruise. If anyone has any experience with the area please let me know any information. I'd like to make the hotel reservation soon. Thanks!

I would recommend the Holiday Inn Express nice place, about 7 blocks away from the cruise port. We even walked to the pier with our luggage, had 4 piece with wheels.
