fraz0132 Posted March 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 5, 2011 After reading reviews on the Elation, I am kind of wondering about it. We usually just go and relax and don't really participate in onboard activities. We watch and that's about it. Wondering if anyone has any advice on the Elation in July or the Norwegian Spirit in July? Thanks
Luv2Travelnow Posted March 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2011 I did the Elation last year. It was great. You can just relax or go to the shows, do whatever you want. You'll enjoy it. We have the Carnival Spirit booked in three weeks!!
SadieN Posted March 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 5, 2011 Love the Elation. We miss her on the West Coast. Anywhere but the Lido is quiet, especially the Serenity Deck on 9aft.
Mystkl1 Posted March 6, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2011 We really enjoyed the Elation! We've been on the Holiday, Fantasy, Triumph, and Elation and thought the Elation was the best fit in terms of what we were looking for. We're booked again in May and look forward to sailing her again. The Serenity Deck is nice and quiet, but there are also quiet areas on the deck above. Regardless of what you choose, hope you have a great vacation!
chachi Posted March 6, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 6, 2011 I loved the Elation. It has been 8 years since I have been on it, so I am sure it has changed. It is what got hooked on cruising though, so I always thinking fondly of it.
luvmysox1 Posted March 6, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 6, 2011 Elation is a great ship. I'ld probably pick this over NCL's Spirit.
scperk Posted March 6, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2011 last year we did the repo for both of these ships and I would pick the Elation ..The NCL Spirit is a lot different than most NCL ships as it was built for an Asain cruiseline and bought by NCL...The rooms are smaller and the ship is laid out really funny...The casino is in the very front of the ship and has an 8 foot ceiling...And the food and dining rooms are really not as good as Carnival..Dennis
FloridaGators Posted March 6, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 6, 2011 We loved Elation....great crew. All great!!! We tried NCL Spirit last year.....the ship is pretty. The food is terrible. I would not go on her again.
redsox_nation Posted March 6, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 6, 2011 I prefer NCL's freestyle concept over the other lines. Giving Carnival a chance later this week on the Imagination.
norcal2 Posted March 6, 2011 #10 Share Posted March 6, 2011 I like NCL's food better in most areas but Carnival has the sushi and other good stuff. If they have the same itinerary or if ports mean nothing to you, pricing may make a difference for you or not. In any case you can't go wrong with any cruise. If cabin is important and size, check the size of the cabins. I haven't been on either ship so I'd probably look closely at the reviews because there is good and bad in any line. I enjoy both lines so I suspect you will have a great cruise no matter what you select.
