We are traveling in November and are coming in at 6:30 am Sat the 20th. We want to be able to go right to a hotel. Can I bid on Priceline for two nights even though I am only going to be staying Saturday night. I want to be able to check right in. Also what star would you bid on to be near the pier in FLL.

I thank you in advance for all your help.

Kathy

Two nights should work, but you need to be SURE to contact the hotel and explain your plans to them ahead of time.

As for bids - 2 1/2 star may well get you the Amerisuites - not a posh hotel but serviceable and in my opinion, not at all the dump some have made it out to be.

3 stars often gets the Marriott Marina, or the Embassy Suites. Very nice digs.

All three of these hotels are in the same area and close to the pier - you can see the cruise ships from any of them. Keep in mind though, that with Priceline you can narrow down your choice, but there's no guarantees that you're gonna get the room you wanted. However, ANY of the hotels in the "Downtown Fort Lauderdale" category will put you plenty close.

In the link beneath our signature, below, there are pix of the hotels taken from our plane that show just how close they are to the port - look for the album "the sad trip home".

"These moments we’re left with - may you always remember
These moments are shared, by few
And those harbor lights, lord they’re coming into view
We’ll bid our farewells much too soon
So drink it up, this one’s for you -
Honey, it’s been a lovely cruise."
