Mallorca-any suggestions??

Hi- we're doing a Med cruise in September and have booked tours for our Italian ports. We thought we'd 'do it ourselves' in Mallorca and although I've checked out a few sites, am still not sure where to go and what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions, recommendations etc? Beaches are definitely on our agenda, just not sure which ones.

I am considering Palma Nova. But it is a 45-50 minute bus ride and taxi is 50 euros. May look for closer beaches.

I've had many holidays in Majorca so on my cruise day there in July I shall be heading for the beach/cove at Illetas, which is not far from Palma. Nice spot. If you want to travel a bit further afield there may be some suggestions on this
