StephD Posted March 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2011 Me & my husband to be our going on the Sensation in September for our honeymoon. Since I booked the cruise I have been thinking I would love to do the Atlantis Adventure. However, within 200 days the price has jump up from $150 per person, to $160 now it's at $175.00. Why on earth is this happening? I just cannot talk myself into spending $175.00 per person on not even a full day, but it's killing me because I really wanted to go. firefly333 Posted March 10, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2011 Go and walk around and see Atlantis free sections. Im not sure, but you might even be able to go to the acquarium. Id still go and enjoy looking, and then take a cab to another beach. I wouldnt spend that much.

For 2 people I think you are kinda stuck.
*Mach* Posted March 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2011 You can opt for the 'Discover Atlantis Tour' which includes a ferry ride over to the island and back, a tour of the Digs, etc. I think the current price is about $56/adult. :)

For 2 people I think you are kinda stuck. We will check into this. We are sailing on the Triumph in May and I would love to do this for the 4 of us. IF it happens fine...if not...no big deal.... jandjfun Posted March 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 10, 2011 You can book a room at the comfort inn and get full access to the Atlantis resort. Including the water slides and pools. If you have more than two people, it can be worth it. My sister and I booked the Atlantis Adventure. When we looked on carnival website, it was 165.00, but when we click on book it, the price was 149. Then a sale came up and we rebooked it for 129. PP. It's a lot of money, but for us, we feel the fun we have is worth every penny!:D
geojarvis Posted March 10, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 10, 2011 If you just want to walk around you can take a taxi for about $4.00 per person each way. There is a lot to do on your own, that is free. There is also a beach area that is free. Taxi's are lined up outside the port, plenty to pick from :) We have done both - with Carnival and without and had fun every time. jbanana1 Posted March 10, 2011 #10 Share Posted March 10, 2011 Check out the Bahamas section of the forum, you'll find lots of info on where to get the best deal for the Atlantis Aquaventure. We ordered tickets thru Majestic Tours for $120 pp (doesn't include meal or transportation).
IowaGrl2009 Posted March 10, 2011 #11 Share Posted March 10, 2011 We too will be in the Bahamas in September with 5 of us total. I have done some price shopping and have found that you can indeed book a room at Comfort Inn for alot less than booking through Carnival it equated out to less than $100 per person (depending on how many people you have). Don't take this as gospel, but I don't think you can get onto the beach at Atlantis for free. You can buy a day pass for it though. I just saw that you posted that you have actually done it. So I guess I am wrong. Sorry. I wonder why carnival would sell a day pass for the beach if its free.??

SAD We were in Nassau for a day during our January cruise. We took a taxi tour that stopped at Atlantis for a short while. I have to say, it was quite dirty from the time I visited previously. The lagoon behind the resort was brown and filled with debris. Based upon that, I wouldn't pay $175 per person to go there.
SANDYJABS Posted March 10, 2011 #14 Share Posted March 10, 2011 Be careful doing this, tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis, you might not get tickets. No the Comfort Inn you can book in advance online. You basically book a room at the hotel and that gives you full access to Atlantis, including the water park. The first come first serve passes are the passes Atlantis sells not the Comfort Suites. We booked with COmfort Suites last June and had a wonderful time, we had to book 2 rooms with 7 ppl total. For 2 people it will be pricey.
SnowWhiteNYC Posted March 10, 2011 #15 Share Posted March 10, 2011 for our upcoming cruise in August the Comfort Suites was far more expensive for the 7 of us than purchasing day passes from Atlantis, bypassing Carnival... I contacted Atlantis and based on their response and those I have gathered from the Ports of Call boards, the likelihood of the day passes being sold out is rare (supposedly only happens during high peak travel weeks....). We are going to take the chance at the $110 per person fee ($80 per child) because our time in port is almost 9 hours....
Lizzzie35 Posted March 11, 2011 #16 Share Posted March 11, 2011 DH and I did this in September and didn't think it was worth the $150/pp it was back then. I'd go with the less expensive option if you really want to see Atlantis. JMO.
loopdloops Posted March 11, 2011 #17 Share Posted March 11, 2011 I hate to say it and I know I will be bashed but we didnt enjoy atlantis at all! It is way too big and hard to see everything you wanted to see. The aquarium is nothing special and I felt it was a huge waste. Yes it was cool hearing about all the famous people who have stayed there but IMHO its way overpriced. I may pay $50 to go back but that really stretching it. jandjfun Posted March 11, 2011 #18 Share Posted March 11, 2011 No bashing here. To each his own. If I went to Atlantis and wasn't able to use the waterslides and pools, I would think it was boring too. You are right, in my opinion the aquarium isn't anything special. I was really disappointed with it. But if you enjoy and use the waterpark portion, then 129 bucks which includes lunch and a drink is worth it in my opinion. But I really LOVE the waterpark. :D
misguidedangel Posted March 11, 2011 #19 Share Posted March 11, 2011 I was at Atlantis resort in Nassau a week ago on Monday. The resort prices are steep, but considering how expensive it was to build you would understand. The resort also has security posted everywhere. The aquarium parts require a certain color bracelet, the waterpark another, and so on. They have clued in that people will wander around and get in for free, so they'll pay to have a attendant making sure you can go to that part of the resort. I did Discover Atlantis and that was the aquarium part and the casino/upscale shops. Loved it!!!!
CupKayke Posted March 11, 2011 #20 Share Posted March 11, 2011 I called Atlantis this week (twice). I explained we would be coming in on a cruise ship. I was told we can go to the front desk of the hotel and buy a $35 per person pass to see the dig or pay $45 per person for a complete tour of the property which also included the dig, the hotel, and the aquariums. She said for $110 per person you can get an all day pass which gives you access to everything, everywhere (slides, dig, lagoons, etc). For the record... I called Atlantis and got semi-flamed for posting what I was told (on the ports board). So, I called back. The lady told me those passes are "always" available and they never refuse anyone because they sold too many. She was almost amused that I had even asked such a thing. You can verify this information by calling Atlantis directly with the toll-free number on their website. There are several people on CC that will tell you they only sell a limited number of passes on certain days and that you should buy them ahead of time from XX vendor if you want to get one. Atlantis flat-out denied this. Again, you can verify this directly with Atlantis. I have not been to Atlantis but I'm one of those that REALLY wants to see Atlantis... and we are considering booking a cruise next year that stops in Nassau just so I can see it. To each his own, I suppose!

There will be 4 of us and at $110 each...that works out to about what the Comfort Suites room would have cost us....and this way, I don't have to preplan....so if it is bad weather when we arrive....we are not locked in. jbanana1 Posted March 12, 2011 #22 Share Posted March 12, 2011 I also called Atlantis directly because we will be there 4th of July weekend and was concerned about availability of passes. I was told that they do have limited availability and can get sold out of day passes during peak days such as holidays that's why I went ahead and ordered thru majestic tours. StephD Posted March 12, 2011 Author #23 Share Posted March 12, 2011 Thanks so much for all the information. I think I'm going to keep an eye on Carnival prices & if it goes back down before September I may go a head and purchase through them. If it doesn't I will take my chances with purchasing the day pass directly at Atlantis. I REALLY would love to go! I have been to the Bahamas twice on RCC back in 2001 & 2002 both times with family on a tight budget & wished so much I could go on another cruise & go to Atlantis. It's taken this long & I can't wait.
