gemsm Posted March 31, 2011 #101 Share Posted March 31, 2011 Day 4 - Belize City, Belize This was our favorite day by far. We had an early excursion so we were up early to work out, get ready and eat breakfast. I wanted to get an early tender to port so we got there 20-30 minutes before they had told us to. I don't remember the exact time they told us it would start, sorry. We were group number 3 and it didn't take too long to get us to land. We quickly made it to the gates and found the company that we booked with. Ok, so here begins my advertisement for the best company in Belize, cave-tubing.com! I love them. My GF loved them. Everyone that was there that day loved them. You can book an excursion to go tubing through Belize's famous caves, and you can add on extras such as ATVs through the jungle or zip-lining or both. We chose to do the ATVs as well as the cave-tubing. We were greeted by Yhondy, the man in charge when we got on the bus... Yohnny's the Man :) He was the tour guide for my tube line and he walked to the drop off point with my DW and I. He is probably one of the nicest people I ever met when travelling. That platform wasn't there when we went...Ya just kinda jumped off a rock into your tube and went on your merry way
kdoc84 Posted April 1, 2011 Author #102 Share Posted April 1, 2011 Well I know it's been a few days since I've posted something so I'm sorry... but there is bad news. My computer crashed and I lost all of my pictures.... APRIL FOOLS!!! Haha, sorry, I had to. Well I'm going to just put up a bunch of pictures of the cave tubing experience since we absolutely loved it... People who were with other excursions booked through Carnival got in the water here, where as we had already gone through one big cave.
kdoc84 Posted April 1, 2011 Author #103 Share Posted April 1, 2011 The only place in the caves where sunlight gets through. The picture doesn't do it justice, it was beautiful! After going through the caves, we had a nice relaxing float down the river. The surrounding areas just look great... This was another carnival excursion. Notice the much smaller tubes. Also, the guide way out in front isn't helping them get through the shallow parts at all. They actually had to just get up and walk over the shallow parts. Our guides would announce, "BUTTS UP!" before the shallow parts so that we would straighten up and pick our butts up so they wouldn't drag across the bottom and they would pull us through in our chain. Very good treatment with cave-tubing.com! Back at cave-tubing.com's site for an authentic tamale lunch. Yummy!
heels_fan Posted April 1, 2011 #104 Share Posted April 1, 2011 Thank you so much for the cave-tubing pictures! Did anyone from your group zip-line as well? Can you give me any info on the tender situation? - Any pointers on getting off the ship ASAP? Thank you again for ALL of this. 16 days & counting!!!.... Can you give me any info on the tender situation? - Any pointers on getting off the ship ASAP? Thank you again for ALL of this. 16 days & counting!!!.... No problem, heels_fan! There were 4 or 5 people in our group that did the zip line as well. When we met up with them (they went off after we were dropped off for the ATVing and then all groups met up again) they seemed very happy with the experience. The only pointer about getting off the ship ASAP I have is to just get down to the theater about a half hour before they announce that they will start giving out tender tickets. We got there maybe 15-20 minutes before and we got number 3. Once the tendering began, we only waited about 10 minutes until our number was called and we were on our way. There was even a couple of guys that made it off the ship a little late and they had a second vehicle that waited there and zipped them up the road to meet up with us. heels_fan Posted April 2, 2011 #107 Share Posted April 2, 2011 Thanks so much for the advice. That is definitely the plan. I apologize if you've answered this question previously, but do you recall what time you made it back to the port after tubing?
raylene5 Posted April 2, 2011 #108 Share Posted April 2, 2011 This cost us $80 for the two of us and it was an hour long. It was one of the few options for horseback riding that actually took you along the beach. It was absolutely beautiful and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone visiting Cozumel. After our riding we went to Mr Sancho's beach. It was beautiful and very relaxing. We got a couple of drinks and some chips with salsa. I have to say, one of the best salsas I've ever had. My GF was way more into the chips, so she left most of the salsa for me. We're such a great match! Oh my goodness, Mexico has the BEST chips and salsa ever! We got back from a 9 day Mexican Riviera a few weeks back and we all just LOVED the salsa and chips. Way better than anything I've found in the states...so fresh! Great review! You guys are quite a cute couple! :)

I apologize if you've answered this question previously, but do you recall what time you made it back to the port after tubing? If I remember correctly we made it back to port an hour before we were suppose to be leaving that port. Without looking it up right now I think the ship was leaving at 5 and we got back at 4. Something like that. There wasn't any time to shop around. It was just get back and get on a tender.

crusinpsychRN Posted April 11, 2011 #113 Share Posted April 11, 2011 I got stuck by the restaurant until I figured out you could walk through it to get where you were going. Loved the ship.
kdoc84 Posted April 12, 2011 Author #114 Share Posted April 12, 2011 Wow, things have been really hectic at work and at home, and were are trying to prepare for our next vacation. Although it's not a cruise it's still exciting! Leaving for Vegas in t-minus 4 days! Soooo... after our authentic tamale lunch, we were brought back to the port. We had a little time to spare but my GF was getting paranoid about not getting the last tender back so we got in line and waited for that. This was the first day we had to tender so she was a bit nervous. I still think she's adorable. After cleaning up we ventured around the ship again. Here she is with her new cave-tubing.com shirt. We just loved it and wanted to advertise! I noticed that the casino was closed since we weren't over international waters yet so I went in to investigate and take some pics... We had dinner with our new couple friends like usual. The food again was great and I didn't have any arguments with the waitress this night! After dinner it was decided the night before that we were going to check out the dance club (the name escapes me right now and I'm going to be lazy and not look it up. Needless to say, I got my groove on...
kdoc84 Posted April 12, 2011 Author #115 Share Posted April 12, 2011 That's right folks, the sprinkler! Haha. Our dinosaur friend was waiting for us patiently. We were pretty tired from all the stupendous dancing, so it was straight to bed. DAY 5 - Isla De Roatan... no wait, Fun Day At Sea We woke up this morning and after working out found out that the ship had been trying to dock for about an hour but the seas were too rough and wouldn't allow it. So we were informed that we were just going to head to our next destination, the Grand Cayman. We were a little bummed about this but this was the only port that I had absolutely nothing planned so I quickly got over it. They quickly started dispersing updated Fun Times to accommodate the unexpected fun day at sea. Hence the fun day at sea...
kdoc84 Posted April 12, 2011 Author #116 Share Posted April 12, 2011 They tried to get some activities going on board to entertain the masses. We competed in a flip-flop toss on the Lido deck. Basically there were 3 hula hoops placed on the ground and the object of the game was to fling your flip flops off your foot and into the hoops. I thought I was going to have a clear advantage because I had sneakers and it was really windy out there. Quite a few flip flops actually ended up in the hot tubs and the people in them had to watch out! One of my attempts: My lovely GF's attempt: Sadly I did not win. My advantage wasn't enough to propel me to a win. After the flip flop toss we attended a salsa dancing class: This was pretty fun. DJ Erica went through moves of varying degrees of difficulty. Tonight was the night that we had a reservation at the wondrous Emerald Room Steakhouse... more to come of this amazing experience
kdoc84 Posted June 1, 2011 Author #117 Share Posted June 1, 2011 Wow, it's been a really long time since I've posted something here. Sorry to everyone who was looking forward to more from this review. Things have been very hectic and I just haven't found the time to sit down and continue this. Ok, now things are a little slow at work so I will try and get this going again. So here we go, the Emerald Steakhouse! Here's a shot of the inside of the restaurant. Could have done without the green lights but other than that it was pretty nice. My GF's app, the shrimp cocktail: It was really tasty. She let me try a little bit and I enjoyed it. My app, the crabcake: This was sooooo good! I thoroughly enjoyed it. GF got the sirloin for an entree: And I got the porterhouse with a baked potato on the side: When this thing was put down in front of me, my jaw dropped. It was cooked to a perfect just below medium and I loved it. This was one of the best steaks I have ever had. GF got the chocolate sampler: She let me try a little bit of everything and it was very tasty. I highly recommend this dessert to be continued... kdoc84 Posted June 1, 2011 Author #118 Share Posted June 1, 2011 And I got the cheesecake. I had to get a thumbs up in there to show my appreciation and to also illustrate just how big this thing was. ENORMOUS! To anyone who is debating on whether or not to go here, please do it. It is absolutely worth the extra $30pp. The service was superb and the food was to die for. After this food-coma-inducing meal, we went back to the room to change and let the food settle before meeting up with our cruise buddies. Gorilla? We went out and saw the comedy show again this night and again it was enjoyable. I really enjoyed all of the R rated shows except for one, because it was the second time we were seeing this comedian and the show was almost exactly like the first time. The other 2 comedians we saw at least changed it up.

surprise_4_sha Posted June 1, 2011 #120 Share Posted June 1, 2011 So here we go, the Emerald Steakhouse! I have made reservations as a surprise for the very 1st night! My app, the crabcake: I already know this is what my soon to be wife will order. She is a crab cake junkie. I hope they allow seconds! lol This was sooooo good! I thoroughly enjoyed it. And I got the porterhouse with a baked potato on the side: ....and this will be MY order!!! My mouth is watering already! lol In terms of the ship itself (venue, activities etc..), what is your top 5, do not miss?!?
kmflutist Posted June 1, 2011 #121 Share Posted June 1, 2011 Hi there! I'm enjoying reading your review especially now that I've just come off of the Glory. It's really cool to look at your photos and say, "Hey! I was there!" or, "I know where that is!" :) Question for ya -- Looks like you were low in the ship with an oceanview room, correct? How was this? We're looking at going on our next cruise with our young kids and want an ocean view (we had a balcony). How was movement? Thanks! kdoc84 Posted June 1, 2011 Author #122 Share Posted June 1, 2011
In terms of the ship itself (venue, activities etc..), what is your top 5, do not miss?!?
In no particular order: - Emerald Room Steakhouse: Totally worth it. I am definitely going to do the steakhouse again on our next cruise - Comedy shows: I'm a fan of comedians and comedy shows so I loved these - Burrito bar: it was very tasty. If you can time it right you can have little to no wait for a delicious meal - Farewell party (or whatever it was called): it was advertised on like the first day's Funtimes, but then never mentioned again. It was on the last sea day and for 45 minutes they have all you can drink alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. It was held in the same lounge the comedy shows were held in. - Trivia: there were numerous trivia activities held throughout the week at various locations. It was a lot of fun to participate in a little friendly competition. I wanted to win one of the coveted plastic ships on a stick so bad. Unfortunately I never did get one. P.S. You can't forget the soft serve ice cream available 24 hours a day!

We were on the 1st deck with an ocean view. Movement was a non-issue except for the day the seas were really rough (the day they couldn't even go to port in Roatan). There was movement that day but for the most part we had no issues with it. We really liked our room. The one downer was that there were 8 floors to climb to get to Lido. Since we were cheating on our diets so much we vowed to take the stairs. This made for a lot of exercising!
