Has Carnival instituted the fuel charge yet? I can't remember if it was $7.00 or $9.00 a day.Was it per person or per cabin? And if they take it off before you cruise do they return the money? I am pretty sure if it isn't on yet, it will be soon. Thanks for your help.

John Heald (senior cruise director) has mentioned a few times recently that he has consulted with the beards and there currently is not any plan in the near future to institute the fuel surcharge.

Hopefully that is true! :)

If it does begin charging, it's $9 per person per day.

It's whatever they want up to $9 and last time the FL Attorney General had them refunding $40 million. The CEO already said they're not going to.

Carnival was compelled to refund $40 million to folk who had the surcharge applied to their cruises retroactively... after they booked... without notice that such a thing might occur. That's the reason you see this all over Carnival.com...

The company reserves the right to re-instate the fuel supplement for all guests at up to $9 per person per day if the NYMEX oil price exceeds $70 per barrel

They aren't charging it. Its coming out of other areas though. Bet on it. Probably less wait staff, kitchen help, room stewards, smaller food portions, stuff like that. They would be fools to not make up for the loss somehow. I doubt Carnival are fools.

Hopefully it doesn't affect the cruise experience.

I will find out in a few weeks I guess.
