lookin4ward Posted March 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Has Carnival instituted the fuel charge yet? I can't remember if it was $7.00 or $9.00 a day.Was it per person or per cabin? And if they take it off before you cruise do they return the money? I am pretty sure if it isn't on yet, it will be soon. Thanks for your help. Lady_Jag Posted March 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2011 You can relax and enjoy your cruise! The fuel surcharge has not been applied, and there are no plans to do so.
tropicaledrink Posted March 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2011 John Heald (senior cruise director) has mentioned a few times recently that he has consulted with the beards and there currently is not any plan in the near future to institute the fuel surcharge. Hopefully that is true! :) If it does begin charging, it's $9 per person per day.

The CEO already said they're not going to.

The CEO already said they're not going to. Carnival was compelled to refund $40 million to folk who had the surcharge applied to their cruises retroactively... after they booked... without notice that such a thing might occur. That's the reason you see this all over Carnival.com... The company reserves the right to re-instate the fuel supplement for all guests at up to $9 per person per day if the NYMEX oil price exceeds $70 per barrel :)
Rottweiler Puppy Posted March 29, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 29, 2011 They aren't charging it. Its coming out of other areas though. Bet on it. Probably less wait staff, kitchen help, room stewards, smaller food portions, stuff like that. They would be fools to not make up for the loss somehow. I doubt Carnival are fools. Hopefully it doesn't affect the cruise experience. I will find out in a few weeks I guess.

PA Dutchman Posted March 29, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 29, 2011 All they had to do is up the price on all the cruises just alittle and they get most of the cost back. Because prices are all over the place for each cruise you will never know.
FlaParrotHead Posted March 29, 2011 #10 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Nothing yet, if it happens, it happens. Ever since they added the option into the cruise contract, I have always tried to budget for it . . . Just in case.
