brnsnbrws Posted April 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2011 I was just reading on another board that people dump out thier opened alcohol because they can't bring it through customs. Hope we haven't got our room steward in trouble but we have always given our opened alcohol and any left over soda and water to our room stewards. Seems a waste to dump it if someone else can drink it.
bigdawg86 Posted April 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2011 I have always given my opened bottles to either my room steward or dining room staff.

AFAIK, your only problem will be if you have it in your car.
dominichunter Posted April 1, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2011 They dump any leftover booze. Who knows what's in it. Would you drink anything left from a stranger?

Carolin Posted April 1, 2011 #9 Share Posted April 1, 2011 I took my leftovers home with me. I told customs I had it. I put it in the very back of my truck and didn't touch it until I got home. No issues.
klmorg Posted April 1, 2011 #10 Share Posted April 1, 2011 In the rare instance that we've had any leftover, we've had no problems taking it off the ship & home with us either.
Lovharvey Posted April 1, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 1, 2011 I didn't have any problems on my last cruise. Since I bought most of my drinks on the ship, I had almost a full bottle. Since it was a plastic bottle, I put it in my suitcase wrapped in a pair of slacks. No problems.
mcwebber Posted April 1, 2011 #12 Share Posted April 1, 2011 If someone can find an actual US Customs regulation about that I'd be very interested. Don't believe much of what you read if it's not on a .gov site about regulations.
megmno Posted April 1, 2011 #13 Share Posted April 1, 2011 We didn't have a problem with it going through customs in NYC last summer. We had it in carry on because we didn't have to fly, so it was clearly visible to the agent.
