LindaAndBillTravel Posted April 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2011 Is there any difference between a D1 and a D2-6 on Oasis or Allure? They are listed as the same square footage, but the D1's are in a separate box on the price listings. I am wondering why this is.
hgmizzou Posted April 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2011 It's my understanding that the D1 cabins have a larger balcony. I think it's 80 sf as opposed to 50 sf.

pediatric-rnp Posted April 1, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2011 When I asked this question of RCL I was told that the D1 category is in what they consider a slighter more desirable location on the ship, but the main reason people book them is for the larger balcony. We love our bacony, so it's worth it to us!

We love our bacony, so it's worth it to us! They have the larger balcony because they are on the hump, but personally I do not like the location. I do not like being too far down the hall. It is OK, my smaller balcony, close to the stairs D4 is cheaper. :)
stephanie1 Posted April 1, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 1, 2011 On the oasis I believe the balcony size between the D1 through D6 is very small (50 sq ft vs 53 sq ft). I believe that cabin location is the big difference. I have a D6 on Oasis and I have a midship cabin 14266 (although they call it aft) by the elevators. Another cabin I was eyeing in pretty much the same location on Deck 6 is about $300 MORE! Deck 6 is where a lot of shops are and deck 14 (although the same proximity to the elevator) does not have shops. I would prefer to be on deck 6 but I could put that few hundred dollars towards cruise clothes and expenses onboard. its not like taking the elevator is so traumatizing, although sometimes it did take a while to get an elevator (on the Liberty) my last cruise because it was nearly 100% full. Its ok, I have a week. I can wait for an elevator or 2 or so....
