Best Beach near cruise port?

Hi,

 

First time in St. croix in July aboard the Serenade. What is the best beach near the port? Can you walk there and how long will it take?

 

Also, how is the shopping in St. Croix?

I would reccommend sandcastle on the beach...it is a 5 minute ride by van or like a 20 min. walk from the pier.When you get off the ship there will be vans offering rides to sandcastle beach and rainbow beach. $6pp round trip. They offer $25 cruise package for 2, includes 2 rum punch, 2 chairs and umbrella. The water is so clear and there is a nice view of the cruise ships in the distance. They have a outdoor restaurant there also,but you can actually order from your chair and they will bring it out to you. I love this place! this was the last day of our trip and i would have to say the most relaxing! I would check it out,you won't be disappointed!

There's also a beach right by the cruise port. About a 5 minute walk if you don't want to go far from the ship. We went here last August and had a nice time. Here's my description with pics:
