Airfare to NOLA

Recommended Posts

We are cruising on the Spirit, and were looking at different air prices (from the West Coast). I know airfare varies quite a bit different times of the year and from different locations. But, I have been following these air prices for a bit now, and they haven't changed. So, I was just wondering if some of you who have flown into NOLA could let me know how much you paid for Round Trip air? Thanks

That is a good help, thank you. I have found tix for around $330, and didn't know if that was a good deal or not. I know it sounds silly, but I have never paid that much for a flight. Because of the amount of airports within driving distance: SAN, SNA, ONT, LGB, BUR, LAX...we can always seem to find a deal. Even when we have flown to FLL, we have always found tix under $300.

Yes it does seem pricier to NOLA than to other cities- maybe not as many flights from here. We've done this a couple times in the last 2 years. Southwest has some for $300 (one change each way) from LAX. We are on the Spirit on May 15 and taking the nonstop from LAX on Southwest flight each way but I'm using Southwest credits for a free flight. It was worth the points to save $600 in flight costs for two.

Can't really compare because we only came from the Central Ohio area, but my husband got a great deal on Southwest (about $500 total for both of us) because we were flexible on the days we were arriving and leaving. We were comped for four days before the cruise and two days after at the Harrah's Hotel. Meals were mostly on Harrah's dime, too. But I can't say we came out ahead because of the donations we made at the casino. But of course, we did have six extra days of vacation.

It's hard to find good deals on airfare right now due to gas prices but one thing to remember is that with Southwest you get a break on luggage charges.

Have fun.

I didn't even consider the gas prices affecting flight costs. I know gas is expected to go up this summer, so wondering if air will continue to go up as well?

I'd consider us lucky if we can get from the West Coast (Canada/Vancouver) to the East (Miami, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Tampa - take your pick) for less than $800-900 per person! In fact, it's pretty much put our cruise in jeopardy. I like to plan far ahead and as soon as you can book air (330 days in advance) I start to check prices, daily. I've been checking for 3 months now and, my husband, 12 year-old daughter and myself can't get to Florida, anywhere, for less than $1,100 apiece. So, there's always someone out there worse off, eh? I'm not sure what we'll do but, it may just be a case of no cruise for us in December :(.
