NU2Cruise55 Posted April 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2011 I was wonderign if anyone has ever been or heard of anyone going into the bridge or wheelhouse of the Carnival Legend or any cruise. I am really facinated by these things and was wondering if there was a possibility or not a chance.

And possible on Carnival until recent years if you wrote to the Captain via the Purser's Desk. But I believe it's a thing of the past now.
*Mach* Posted April 13, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2011 I have on a few occasions. Now, with the advent of the Behind the Fun tour it's really not such a big deal... :)

Now, with the advent of the Behind the Fun tour it's really not such a big deal... :) Does that tour take in the Bridge now? I know when I tried a few years back I was laughed at by Guest Services basically. At that time it was still possible IF you got lucky to get a tour but I was denied. Many moons ago I got tours of the NCL ship bridges just by asking.

NU2Cruise55 Posted April 13, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted April 13, 2011 Maybe since this is my first cruise and it will be my honeymoon I can talk them in to it. I promise it will not be a Speed 2 Cruise Control incident. Maybe I shouldn't even mention that.

Lots and lots of honeymooners too.

cruisinthemed Posted April 13, 2011 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2011 We were invited up to the bridge by the Captain on a previous cruise, last year. We were on a lower deck on the front of the ship watching the sunset. We heard a knock from the window above...It was the Captain. He waved us up and crew members escorted us up to the bridge. My DF was fascinated, he works at the Port of Long Beach. We were able to take pics and visit with him for some time. He did ask us not to tell fellow passengers...which we respected. It was a special, probably one time experience.
jfroot Posted April 13, 2011 #13 Share Posted April 13, 2011 I just did the Behind the FUN tour on the Splendor last week and the bridge visit was included and very interesting and informative. As soon as we got on the bridge the captain came and put this little wooden box overtop of the what I think were the engine throttle controls. I am curious why they are only concerned with protecting those two little levers and not the other myriad of wheels and controls.

NCL has an observation area where you can view the bridge and some of the luxury lines allow full access to the bridge.
The Wolverine Posted April 13, 2011 #18 Share Posted April 13, 2011 last summer on Valor, My daughter (11yo) and I were walking around the ship, we saw the captain coming the other way, she stopped him and asked him if he like his "office" because she thought it had a lot of windows. He said that we probably should come and see it, he invited us to go back with him to the bridge, many things going on there but the view was amazing. she also got a captain's hat from one of the crew members. that really made her day. :)
