Pack And Go Rate Offered More Than 2 Months in Advance

Carnival is offering Pack and Go rates for the July 10 sailing of the Valor.

Is it strange for that rate to be offered so far in advance?

My paranoid streak thinks that this is a way for them to drop rates without having to offer price drops to people booked under ES.

There is one from August I see too. No, I dont think its too unusual. I quit booking ES rates. Just not worth it for me.

Sorry to ask a somewhat OT question, but is there a reason not to book ES, other than the $50/person penalty? We booked an ES rate for our first, Carnival cruise. It saved us quite a bit for the 3 of us. I know we won't see a reduction in price, because of the cabin we booked. Should we not book that rate next time, if we book one of the cabin categories that will sell out w/o price reductions? Again, I apologize for the newbie question that is probably obvious to most of you. Fire's post just made me wonder, if we goofed up by booking ES.

Some of us have felt miffed when we are paying lets say $429 for our 4A and then there is a pack n go IS for $399 that you cannot match because IS gty is lower than a 4A.

Im now waiting for last minute pricing and Im not stuck with a date, when Im personally flexible, and any date that has a last minute great price is great by me. I also ran into a problem with my 2nd pax, who got married, and her new hubby decreed she couldnt go on any of the ES cruises I booked .. no name changes. I was stuck.

Iv lost the last money I intend to booking ES, playing it last minute. I know I have no one to blame but myself for booking in advance, but I learned.

Fire, thanks for the explanation. :) When our DS is out of college & on his own, we'll be looking for last minute deals too. Living close to several ports will make that work well for us. Until then, we have to work around his schedule. I hope the ES rate was a good decision for us this time.

I did a pack and go for the Fantasy on april 23rd (I leave in two days!) about two months ago.

I will only do pack and go now! Its one heck of a deal if you watch it and have the ability to take time off with only a month or two of notice. I paid $349 pp for a six night cruise to Bermuda. You don't get to pick your room and it took a month before my room was assigned. But, I was pleased to get a 4D (Empress deck) when I was expecting a 1A.

FYI the rate never went below the the pack and go rate.

Pack and go is awesome!
