smacksgirl11 Posted April 21, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2011 Hi! My Husband and his parents are going on the Jewel of the Seas the week of Thanksgiving and on of our stops is Costa Maya. Has anyone done the excursion with Royal Caribbean called "beach snorkel cm36"? We were hoping to do a beach day and maybe some snorkeling on our own, is this a good excursion for this or does anyone have any other suggestions that might be better? Thanks for your help! Scottee25 Posted April 21, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2011 After reading the description of this excursion, I would have to say "No" this will not allow you some snorkeling on your own. From the sounds of it, the only part you will be able to do on your own is the beach segment. The snorkeling segment appears to be guided, and if anything like excursions I have done, when the snorkeling is over, they take the equipment back from you. There may also be liability reasons for not allowing you to snorkel on your own. Sorry I can't offer any other suggestions as I have never been to Costa Maya, but if you are looking for something to do on your own, this may not be the excursion for you. 39august Posted April 21, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 21, 2011 Go to the ports of call board and open Costa Maya for lots of info. I suggest you take the taxi/van/bus to the village (3 miles) and take one of many snorkel excursions offered on the beach there. The reef is just about 100 yds. off shore. And the whole village is a beach.
