milton333 Posted April 21, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2011 We'll be in port in St. Thomas from 11 am to 7 pm. We'd like to head to St. John's. However, we will be traveling with a toddler, who will likely take an afternoon nap. In terms of ease of use, we're looking at a ship-sponsored excursion, where we'll take a boat from the ship's pier over to St. John. Just seems easier than dealing with taxis and the ferry, with the equipment we'll need to carry. The excursion, on RCI, is a walking tour/time on your own thing - we'd ditch the tour and just grab a cab to the beach. Someone who traveled to the Bahamas with a toddler mentioned being able to get a hotel room for the day, instead of a day pass, at a resort, so there was someplace for toddler to take a nap, stow gear, and they had access to the beach. Anything like that on St. John, do you know? We're also looking at the option of bringing a popup cabana for DS to nap in.
augie Posted April 21, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2011 You won't find anything like that on St. John, and certainly not at the Comfort Inn Paradise Island rates, even if you could! A pop up cabana is probably your best bet.
Betsy's Mom Posted April 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2011 There are no day passes and hotel rooms are very pricey indeded, about $400. per day and no guarantee that you would be able to register until late afternoon. Use a pop up tent of some sort or return to the air conditioned ship. Enjoy:) B.
