NJ Johnny Posted April 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Our PCC just last evening stated that as of May 1, there will be no more union discounts.
LocalTracks Posted April 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Just to be clear, if someone is already booked and paid (and receiving the union discount), it would still apply either way, correct?
NJ Johnny Posted April 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 27, 2011 From what I understand, it is only for bookings made after May 1.
Squidward Q Tentacles Posted April 27, 2011 #8 Share Posted April 27, 2011 I got the discount for my Nov cruise, glad I made my reservations back when I did!
luv4cruisin Posted April 27, 2011 #9 Share Posted April 27, 2011 The AFL/CIO did not reinstate it's contract with NCL, so union will not be able to be applied as of May 1. If you book before then, it does apply, regardless of when your sailing is.:o
silkhair1 Posted April 27, 2011 #10 Share Posted April 27, 2011 That is horrible news!
Hikini Posted April 28, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 28, 2011 Blushing here for not paying attention....we have gotten the union discount but I've never paid attention to how much it was. I don't think it was a significant amount, or am I wrong?
anything Posted April 28, 2011 Author #12 Share Posted April 28, 2011 depended on how long out the cruise was and on specific cruise but up to 10%

Livabeth Posted April 28, 2011 #15 Share Posted April 28, 2011 Does anyone know if this union discount is only for members of U.S. based unions or if members of Canadian unions could take advantage of it??
SuiteRose Posted April 28, 2011 #16 Share Posted April 28, 2011 Yikes!! I have been looking at fall/winter cruises for weeks! Guess I'll have to decide tonight!! I wish NCL would come on here and confirm... My husband has never sailed anywhere buy on NCL ships ... he is a union bricklayer and he really appreciates that NCL did that for unions. RambleRocket Posted April 28, 2011 #17 Share Posted April 28, 2011 Does anyone know if this union discount is only for members of U.S. based unions or if members of Canadian unions could take advantage of it?? Canadians may apply for the discount once they belong to a AFL/CIO union. At time of booking, the agent asks for your Union membership number and tell you to bring proof (such as Union card) to the port to confirm. :)
valleyvillage Posted May 1, 2011 #18 Share Posted May 1, 2011 i dont know if this true but my pcc just told me that as of may that the union discount will be gone, just a heads up Yep, just checked and the Union link is gone from ncl's home page and when I tried applying the code I got an error. I loved that discount, it has saved us hundreds over the years, but business is business!
whenisthemidnightbuffet? Posted May 1, 2011 #19 Share Posted May 1, 2011 I too went on NCL website today and the union link was not on the home page, it is however embedded in the site. If you go down to the bottom of the page, Partners & Programs and hit the AARP link and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page again Union Plus will show up. I did notice that the discounts for suites are no longer listed so maybe this has been eliminated.
