Hotels near Port of Miami

What are the best and economical hotels to stay pre and post cruise nights near the port of Miami.

A couple of items.

 

I would post this on the Cruise Critic Florida Ports of Call Board.

 

Best and Economical are two different things.

 

A nice hotel is the Intercontinental located just near the bridge that take you over to the Port of Miami.

 

If you want something much more economical there is the Holiday Inn near Bayside which is fairly close to the Intercontinental.

We've always stayed at the Holiday Inn...it's fairly priced, the rooms are clean and decent, and there are a lot of restaurants and shops right across the street.

If you want the combination of a nice hotel, but inexpensive price then Priceline or Hot Wire is the way to go. I have used them several times in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale and never been disappointed. A website like Betterbidding.com is a good resource for researching hotels via Priceline and Hotwire. It takes a bit more work to book via these sites (especially via Priceline) but the savings can be substantial. Be advised that the bookings will be non-refundable though - so do not book until you are certain you are going.
