JimandStan Posted April 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Ok Cruise Critics! You helped us in London and I am counting on you to help us in Papeete Tahiti with a great luxury hotel! Would love something on the water - Can you Help??? We will be there in January 2012 :)Samantha Although it is about 15 Km outside of Downtown Papeete, the Meridien Tahiti sounds like it is exactly what you are looking for. http://www.lemeridientahiti.com/ The over the water Bungalows are absolute Tahitian Heaven. Le Méridien Tahiti’s Overwater Bungalows are the most romantic and intimate accomodations in the South Pacific, situated on stilts above the pristine lagoon with a spacious deck. These air-conditioned bungalows are very spacious (56 square meters), with a separate dressing area, mini-bar, satellite television, tea/coffee amenities and an iron and ironing board. Although they go for about $450 per night in January, you may take some comfort in knowing that similar digs at the St. Regis Tahiti are paying $1250. So it's a bargain too! :p
vaitape Posted April 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2011 BTW, the St Regis is on Bora Bora, not Tahiti. Though we haven't stayed at Le Meridian on Tahiti, we've met people who really like the property. We do NOT recommend a stay at the Intercontinental Tahiti......terrible food, clueless waitstaff, surly Reception and Concierge..... We've been going to French Polynesia since 1981 and we're so disappointed with the IC Tahiti recently. NOT worth the cost now in our opinion based on our experience2 weeks ago. esther e Posted April 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 27, 2011 We stayed in Le Meridian in Tahiti and loved it. The pool is interesting, but not in a negative way.
pacheco18 Posted April 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 27, 2011 We loved the IC Tahiti - they have over the water bungalows as well. We did NOt love the IC Moorea. Different strokes.
PintoLvr Posted April 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 27, 2011 We have stayed at Le Meridian in Tahiti and loved it! We stayed in an over the water bungalow and in a regular room there. Very nice. Classy. The pool is interesting in that it has a sandy bottom. If you have time, go to the big market close to middle of the town and get some fresh flowers for your cabin.
