Bowcruise Posted May 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 2, 2011 We are cruising on the Mariner of the Seas and will be in Istanbul May 17-18. We want to take a cruise on the Bosphorus but don't want the 6 hours, something shorter. Can anyone advise about the private tours? Where do you go,can we contact them in advance to reserve, what to watch out for? Thank You, Bowcruise.
Rare Keith1010 Posted May 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 2, 2011 Bowcruise, I would post this on the European Ports of Call Board. Here is the link to the board. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=234 Keith
Rare John Bull Posted May 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 2, 2011 Hi, Bowcruise, & welcome to Cruise Critic. I'm guessing that the tour you mention is the one by the ferry company. http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/go/Istanbul/Sights/Bosphorus/ferry.html You have several options : - depending on your ship's back-on-board time, you can take a later tour which has a much shorter break at A/Kavagi before returning. - you can turn back at an earlier pier, as suggested on the website. This will involve using a regular ferry (same boats, just a few more stops) - you can go one way by taxi. We taxi'd up (can't remember but probably no more than 30 minutes), had lunch, caught a regular ferry back. Never noticed the availability of taxis there, but the website doesn't think its a problem, and one way by boat is good enough, Ferry fares are silly-cheap.
