Dawn Refubishment!

Recommended Posts

We're on the first sailing after the dry-dock, sailing at the end of this month. Will definitely be posting a thorough review with lots of pics when we get back! :D

Excited about the new TV's in every room! Hubby is excited to try Moderno.

I assume no one knows anything about the drydock going on in Freeport. I wish NCL were more forthcoming about what is or will happen.

What is happening to the Dawn during this dry dock has been discussed almost ad nauseum here at CC.

Modermo Churrascaria restaurant will added to the Dawn replacing half of the Tex/Mex restaurant. The other half will become Blue Lagoon.

Reading here what maybe going on --- on Dawn in dry dock --- What will be happen to the "old location" of the Blue Lagoon - I thought it was locatd in a great area --

Having been on the Dawn twice and loved it both times, I always felt like eating in the Blue Lagoon was like eating in the middle of a long hallway! I was just on the Jewel where the Blue Lagoon has been located in the other half of the Tex/Mex restaurant and it was sooo much nicer

havent had the pleasure of sailing on the DAWN, but sounds like she is going to be just like the STAR now with the new locale of the BL which we LOVED the "old" way--was our favorite!!!...always felt like we were at an outside cafe...it gave it uniqueness and charm and now all the ships will be alike...its to bad they couldnt have left it alone--i dont like all the ships the same:(

when we were on the STAR for the 5th time (1st after the change) we didnt care much for the NEW BLUE LAGOON and we ran into alot of other people who felt the same way...it now was just like all the others, its CHARM GONE:(

While never having the pleasure of being on the Dawn, we were were on the Jewel and enjoyed the Blue Lagoon several times. It was a nice place to grab lunch. We are still looking forward to the Dawn this November for our 25th anniversary.

Don't forget what happened to the Spinnaker Lounge...

Photo gallery (although it's a profit generator and we know it's all about the profit!) is so 1990s. :D They could save a ton of paper and printing materials by going paperless and having a photo gallery channel in your stateroom with the ability to view and order pictures from your tv. Only then would they be printed out and delivered to you...

Of course if they invested the money for infrastructure to support fully interactive TV in the stateroom they'd want higher margins to repay said investments. With that comes in-stateroom gambling on your TV linked to the Casino!

Stay tuned for future developments.

Cheers,

Norman

I saw the scaffolding yesterday. That's neat that you caught a pic with someone on it :)

Having never been on the Star or the Dawn, I'm really not too concerned about them moving the lounge and rearranging things. You almost have to look at it as if it's a different boat now. If you go determined to be disappointed because they've made changes then you will be. Trust me, I'm not PollyAnna, but, sometimes you've got to go with the right attitude.

I'm anxiously awaiting our trip on the Dawn in July =D

Not sure how many times I have been on Dawn -- she is one of my favorite ships. Sometime change is good-- for who/whom I am not sure--- but it will be fun to see the changes from when she first arrived in New York--

I have had cabins inside - ocean view - balony - mini suites and now for the big event "The Garden Villa --- I have been in villas before hubby has not, looking forward to his reaction ---

You just described the Epic. Lol.

However, the photo gallery has kiosks for viewing your photos, plus binders ordered by cabin number that makes it easy to find ones that have already been printed.
