Train from Civitavecchia to Rome- near Colosseum

Hi,

I need to plan transportation from Civitavecchia to Rome near the Colosseum. With luggage, what is the best train route?

Would I go to Termini and then take a cab? Or would I get off at Ostiense and then take the metro?

Is the metro doable with luggage?

Either option would work but they metro with luggage can be problematic. There are often stairs, crowds etc. I have found it better to skip metro's when I have luggage.
