cruisinlawn Posted May 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2011 looking at early stages of planning for our first Med sailing. If we sail between Rome and Venice (or vice versa), would we do one way air between the states or could we roundtrip from US to Rome or Venice? If that's the case, if we debark in Venice by what means to we get back to Rome to fly home? Sorry to be lacking geographical knowledge in this area.:o. TIA for any input Oh, to add another option...what if we embark Barcelona and debark Venice? I'm thinking this would have to utilize two diff airports?? euro cruiser Posted May 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2011 Look into open jaw tickets (arrive into one city and depart from another). They often aren't much more than standard round trip tickets and they make your life a lot easier. (FYI, Rome and Venice are about 350 miles apart. Barcelona and Venice are about 750 miles apart.) cruisinlawn Posted May 12, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted May 12, 2011 was somewhat sure Barcelona was not feasible but didnt' know about Rome/Venice...it's only about an inch on the map...haha:). Thks for clarifying.
rebeccalouiseagain Posted May 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2011 Its totally doable. US Air is probably one of the best ones. They do nonstops from Philly to Venice and Rome to Philly or vice versa. You can fly in one way and out the other for pretty much the same as roundtrip. Venice airport is really user friendly by the way and clean. I love that little airport.
CathyCruises Posted May 12, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2011 Very easy to do--when you go into the airline website to book, check 'multi-city', then put your home airport and first destination on the first line, and your final destination and home airport on the second line. You will find that the fares are almost the same, or possibly in some cases cheaper, than a regular round trip.
